8Bitdo is introducing the Arcade Controller Pro, its latest controller offering for gamers. Specifically fighting game enthusiasts. Not juts any fighting game enthusiasts, though, serious fighters. 8Bitdo says the Arcade Controller Pro is for serious fighters, and after flipping through some of the controller’s features, it’s clear that 8Bitdo is rather serious about this statement.
For starters, this controller is highly customizable. It comes with things like hot-swappable switches, so you can change things up on the fly even in the middle of using the controller, if something isn’t working out for you. It also doesn’t use a joystick like most traditional fighting game controllers. Instead, it uses the all-button approach.
The 8Bitdo Arcade Controller Pro pre-orders will start in September
8Bitdo hasn’t mentioned when this controller is launching, nor has it mentioned a price. However, there’s at least some indication of when this will be available. 8Bitdo does confirm that pre-orders for the controller will begin in September. It’s also worth noting that the regular model of this, which launched last year, costs $89.99 at full price. So, this is likely to cost over $100, and it wouldn’t be much of a shock to see it available for anywhere from $130 to $150, given all the features.
Speaking of features, there’s a lot of them on offer here. There’s a small display on the front that lets you do things like check the status of the battery and flip through different inputs. You can also use it to adjust a wide variety of settings.
Additionally, the controller comes with a magnetic wrist rest, a quick-release tempered glass faceplate, replaceable lock caps, and a whole lot more. Compatibility-wise, this might be its only drawback. As 8Bitdo lists that it only works with the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 for consoles, and then it also works for Windows PCs. This means you seemingly can’t use it with PS5 or Xbox Series X.
