The 2027 Mercedes-Benz C-Class has received some big updates. The brand’s top-selling sedan has received a major technology and design overhaul along with a more polished mild-hybrid powertrain. According to Mercedes-Benz, this updated C-Class will be in showrooms at U.S. dealerships by the first half of 2027.

It is not so much a case of reinventing the formula for 2027 as it is modernizing it on a large scale. It is now underpinned by the latest Mercedes-Benz Operating System and an AI-driven MBUX Virtual Assistant. Under the hood there is a reworked 2.0-liter turbo with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system.
The 2027 C-Class features a restyled face a new radiator grille with chrome star work and a chrome surround is available with illumination, as is the central Mercedes-Benz star. The new headlights have star-shaped running lights and the motif is echoed in the taillights. More sculpted surfaces and gloss-black touches on the revised fascia are meant to put an athletic slant on the sedan and make it appear wider. At the rear, the bumper and taillights have been sharpened up. There are also new 18- and 19-inch wheels to choose from, two of which are AMG designs.
Mercedes has introduced two fresh paint options: Miami Silver Metallic and Moody Sky Grey Metallic, the latter a blue-grey that shifts with the light. And for those inclined toward a more aggressive style, the C-Class can be had with the AMG Line Plus package for the first time; it comes with red seat belts and contrast stitching on the sport seats, a spoiler lip, gloss-black tailpipe trim and the Night Package.

Step inside and the “Welcome home” theme is more pronounced, with new materials and lighting for a degree of personalization. You will find the same 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and portrait-style 11.9-inch touchscreen, but what is happening behind them is different. The C-Class is now powered by MB.OS, the company’s newest vehicle operating system that supports over-the-air updates and the latest MBUX.
At the heart of that is the AI-powered MBUX Virtual Assistant. Mercedes touts its ability to hold a conversation and recall context in a way older voice systems could not, thanks to a multi-agent approach drawing on ChatGPT, Microsoft Bing and Google Gemini. It can be used to ask general questions or put together a playlist from a loose description.

Navigation is handled with Google-based tech and the Automotive AI Agent from Google Cloud for more tailored information on points of interest. MBUX Surround Navigation gives a 3D view of the car and traffic in real time. An optional MBUX Augmented Reality Head-up Display is also being made available on the C-Class for the first time, something previously reserved for the S-Class and EQS.
There are other changes of note in the cabin. The multifunction steering wheel has been redesigned for a more intuitive layout, with haptic feedback on the capacitive controls. For audio, the optional Burmester 3D Surround Sound System has been beefed up with a 710-watt amp, 15 speakers and Dolby Atmos.
Inside, ambient lighting is a defining feature of the C-Class experience. There are 64 colors to choose from across 10 themes, with high-resolution styles and a range of brightness settings. The lighting is interactive as well; it can offer visual cues when one is making changes to the climate control or flash in the door handles for the Blind Spot Assist warning.
Mercedes has put in some new work on interior finishes too. Beech Brown upholstery can be had in MB-Tex, leather or Nappa leather, and there is Cherry Red in MB-Tex. New trims are being introduced such as Natural Grain Birch Wood and High-Gloss Silver Metallic. For the first time, the AMG Line leather seats have moccasin stitching on the side bolsters.

The turbocharged 2.0-liter four under the hood is the same in name but has been overhauled. The updated engine puts out 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. A 48-volt mild-hybrid setup with a second-gen integrated starter-generator can contribute another 23 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque at lower revs. An electric auxiliary compressor, also run by the 48-volt system, will spool up boost quickly before the exhaust-driven turbo does its job. If called for, an overboost function can deliver 27 additional horsepower for some 20 seconds.
That 48-volt system also makes for smoother start-stop and energy recuperation. According to Mercedes, the shift from coasting with the engine off to powered acceleration is all but unnoticeable, adding to the car’s everyday composure.
The chassis has been retuned for the 2027 model. While the sedan retains its four-link front and five-link rear suspension, the stiffer connection and adjustable damping have been reworked to cut down on body motion and sharpen agility without sacrificing comfort on longer drives.
Efforts to quiet the cabin have been made through aerodynamic tweaks like redesigned mirrors and an optimized trunk-lid spoiler, as well as extra sealing and insulation for highway running. The result is a drag coefficient of just 0.24 and less wind noise.
Technology has seen a considerable update as well. A new MB.OS-based control unit is at the heart of the driver-assistance package, which includes eight cameras, 12 ultrasonic and five radar sensors. Standard MB.Drive systems will handle everything from lane keeping to distance management. MB.Drive Parking Assist 360 is now standard fare, complete with a 360-degree camera. Its Reverse Maneuvering Function can put the car in reverse and retrace part of its recent path, a handy tool on a narrow road or tight driveway. Those who opt for the next-generation Digital Light headlights will get micro-LED technology that Mercedes claims is 50 percent more efficient and offers a wider field of illumination.
