Zurich North America is moving its downtown office to Willis Tower, and the company has leased 52,000 square feet across the 53rd and 54th floors of the 110-story skyscraper at 233 S. Wacker Drive.
Under the new 10-year deal, Zurich will relocate its downtown office to the building from its current West Loop workspace at 300 S. Riverside Plaza, reported Crain’s. Willis Tower is owned by Blackstone Group, and the New York-based private equity giant recently arranged a deal with its lender to secure three more years to pay off a $1.3 billion loan on the building.
JLL’s Executive Managing Director Todd Mintz negotiated the new lease on behalf of Zurich North America. Nikki Kern of Chicago-based leasing agency Telos Group represented Perform.
Zurich’s new space at Willis Tower will be similar in size to what it occupies today at 300 S. Riverside. Zurich North America has about 3,000 employees in the Chicago area.
