Roll-Royce’s Starlight Headliner has become something of a phenomenon, but one customer decided to take things to the extreme. The resulting model is the one-off Cullinan Cosmos, which is the company’s first vehicle to feature a hand-painted headliner.
Since the client and their four-year-old son were fascinated by space, they wanted something that would ‘capture the essence of the cosmos.’ The end result is this stunning interpretation of the Milky Way.

Rolls-Royce said it was painted entirely freehand by one of their in-house artists and took over 160 hours to create. It’s easy to understand why as the “luminous cloud formations” required “more than 20 successive applications of acrylic paint, building depth and dimension with a variety of brushes.”
Besides the eye-catching ceiling, the ultra-luxury crossover features Charles Blue and Grace White leather seats with contrast stitching and piping. They’re joined by a unique star cluster motif on the door panels and headrests as well as a hand-painted design on the front passenger fascia. We can also see illuminated “Cullinan Cosmos One of One” door sill plates as well as Piano White trim, which “echoes the high-gloss surfaces of satellite casings.”
Celestial Exterior Touches
The exterior looks relatively plain by comparison, but it sports and an Arabescato Pearl paint job that recalls the “soft luster of moonlight across a midnight sky.” The model also has a subtle Charles Blue twin coachline as well as an illuminated Spirit of Ecstasy that “glows like a distant star.”
V12 Beneath The Artistry
Since the custom commission is based on the Cullinan Series II, it features a twin-turbo 6.75-liter V12 engine producing 563 hp (420 kW / 571 PS) and 627 lb-ft (850 Nm) of torque. It’s connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission and a standard all-wheel drive system.
