X claims it has suspended 800 million accounts to tackle spam
X’s official representatives told the UK’s members of parliament that it constantly identifies networks of inauthentic activity created to influence debates or spread spam. According to the officials, many suspended accounts were linked to coordinated campaigns. Such campaigns were specifically designed to manipulate trending topics and mislead users.
As per X, such behavior is categorized as aggressive or disruptive actions that distort conversations and undermine trust. Detecting these networks requires automated systems and human review. Both are already working together to monitor unusual patterns of posting, engagement, and account creation across the platform every single day.

Russia was described as the most active actor attempting to shape narratives on the platform, followed by Iran and China. While millions of accounts have already been removed, the company says it continues to invest in detection tools and enforcement teams to prevent manipulation from spreading.
X says it is taking every necessary step to ensure that its platform remains a safe place for debate. The tech giant says it continues to update its moderation policies to tackle spam and accounts that spread fake narratives. Moreover, the executives told lawmakers that despite the large number of suspended profiles, they believe the majority of activity on X remains authentic.
