Construction has begun on the Miyako Hotel in Plano. Beck Construction is building the project, which is expected to open in two years. The hotel will be within The Park at Legacy Ranch, near Toyota’s North American headquarters. It will be owned and managed by Kintetsu Group Holdings Co. Ltd. — a Japanese conglomerate known for its railways, department stores and hospitality ventures.
The 12-story, 217-room hotel will feature amenities including a traditional Japanese restaurant, an upscale lobby, and rooftop bars, a Japanese bakery, an outdoor pool and fitness center, plus banquet and conference space.
The $117 million hotel’s nightly rates are expected to start at around $350. Architects Gensler and Looney & Associates are leading the effort.
Kintetsu leaders chose Plano for its rapid business growth over the past decade, led by Toyota’s $315 million campus, which opened in 2017. Since Toyota announced its move from California 11 years ago, more than 40 Japanese companies — including NTT Data — have set up operations in Plano.
