A joint venture building the Crystal Lagoon has completed one venture, and work is underway on its second. Lagoon Development Co., in a joint venture with Miami-based Crystal Lagoon U.S. Corp., broke ground in December on the undeveloped 40-acre site north of FM 1488 just west of the Waller/Montgomery county line. It completed the Angel Lagoon in Dayton six months ago.
The Houston Business Journal reports that similar to Angel Lagoon, the $30 million first phase will include a 4-acre artificial lagoon with four beaches, a swim-up bar, floating obstacle course, paddle boating, kayaking and sailing with the National Sailing Club. The lagoon is expected to open for swimming by May 2026.
Future phases would include an amphitheater for shows and concerts. Like at Angel Lagoon, the plan is to sell or co-develop the remaining parcels into restaurants, apartments, hotels and condos around the lagoon.
