The pickup truck is just about as old in concept as any automobile, with modified versions of some of the earliest vehicle chassis developed to haul and tow. The truck would naturally evolve into something focused on practicality and capability, with engine performance and style initially more focused on payload, pulling, and off-road functions and abilities. Eventually, however, automakers started to realize that not every truck needed to be all things to all people, and some began developing street-oriented models that eventually translated into the modern sport truck concept, with more power put towards on-road performance like acceleration and corner handling, and more thought put towards design and style.
