The 2025 Toyota 4 Runner rides on an all-new platform, and is powered by an all-new engine. It’s one of the biggest departures from the traditional 4Runner formula, and we don’t think that’s a bad thing. The outgoing model was on sale for 14 years, so it was time for something new. And as we discovered while researching the history of the 4Runner, it’s not the first turbocharged four-pot-powered model either.
