If your car breaks on the highway, it’s usually not a big problem. Call road service, wait for a tow truck to arrive, get towed to the garage. It’s inconvenient and it’s expensive, but it’s probably not going to ruin your day. Break down when you’re off-roading, though, and things get a lot more complicated. Break something miles from civilization while rock-crawling in a dedicated off-road monster, and you just might have to build a house and stay there permanently.
