Office of Management and Budget Director Russ Vought is set to testify Wednesday afternoon before the Senate Appropriations Committee on the White House’s request to claw back roughly $9.4 billion in funding for foreign aid and public broadcasting.
The package is the first to codify cuts made by President Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency. The House last week voted to advance the request that slashes funds for the U.S. Agency for International Development, which has largely been dismantled, and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting — which helps to fund outlets such as NPR and PBS.
The bill’s fate in the Senate, however, remains unclear.
The hearing is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. EDT.
