Texas House Democratic Caucus Chair Rep. Gene Wu and other members of his party who fled to Illinois over the weekend are expected to speak Monday evening in Chicago.
The House Democrats left Texas on Sunday in a bid to stop Republicans from proceeding with a redistricting effort that would give the GOP five more opportunities to gain seats in the 2026 midterms.
The state lawmakers will be joined by Democratic members of Congress.
