The Senate on Tuesday will take up another vote on a stopgap funding bill that could reopen the government after the lapse stretched into its fifth week.
Lawmakers in the upper chamber have already failed 13 times to reach the 60-vote threshold needed to advance the legislation, which would fund the government at previous levels until Nov. 21 — though the House has floated extending that deadline. Senators on both sides of the aisle are feeling pressure to end the shutdown, poised to become the longest in U.S. history, but no deals have been made thus far.
President Trump has advocated for upending the filibuster rule, but Republican leaders have brushed off that suggestion.
The vote is expected to begin at 11:30 a.m. EST.
