The Senate on Thursday afternoon is set to vote on the Shutdown Fairness Act — a bill introduced by Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) that would provide pay for service members and excepted workers as the government shutdown stretches into a fourth week.
Democrats have also weighed their own version of a bill that would include payment for all furloughed federal workers — not just essential workers.
The vote comes a day after Senate Democrats blocked the GOP-led continuing resolution that would reopen the government for the 12th time.
It is scheduled to begin at 12:15 p.m. EDT.
