Congressional Hispanic Caucus leaders will give remarks Thursday morning pushing for more oversight of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrests amid President Trump’s immigration crackdown.
The news conference comes as tensions have been high following mass deportations by the Trump administration and legal battles over visas. It also follows the controversy around interim U.S. Attorney for New Jersey Alina Habba’s charge against Rep. LaMonica McIver (D-N.J.) — who was accused of assaulting a law enforcement agent — and the arrest and release of Newark Mayor Ras Baraka outside of an ICE facility in New Jersey.
The event is scheduled to begin at 11:15 a.m. EDT.
