Will Lewis, the CEO and publisher of The Washington Post, announced his departure on Saturday afternoon, just days after sweeping layoffs hit the legacy publication.
Jeff D’Onofrio will serve as the interim CEO and publisher, effective February 7.
“The Post’s resolute commitment to writing the first rough draft of history anchors and imprints its future,” D’Onofrio said in a statement. “I am honored to become part of charting that future and to take the lead in securing both the legacy and business of this fierce, storied American institution.”
