Volkswagen isn’t horsing around with its Polo supermini hatchback. The German automaker is celebrating 50 years since the city car was introduced, so naturally it has built itself a race car. Seven-time World Rallycross champ Johan Kristoffersson is out for a Gymkhana-style blast in not one, but several hopped-up Polos around the South African factory in Uitenhage, which has been one of the many plants building the Polo since it started in 1996. And it’s the only plant that builds the hotter GTI model.
