Vivo could introduce its next-gen X300 series of flagship smartphones by the end of September or in October in China. Ahead of an official announcement, the rumor mill has already given us many details about the upcoming Vivo handsets. Last month, a leak revealed that the next-gen Vivo X300 series phones will feature a major camera boost to 200MP sensors.
Vivo’s product manager Han Boxiao has now put a stop to the rumors and confirmed that Vivo X300 series devices will utilize next-gen 200MP camera sensors. Additionally, he has shared some details about the additional camera technologies these phones will offer.
Vivo’s X300 Pro model will offer major upgrades in smartphone photography
In a blog post on Weibo, Boxiao has revealed that the Vivo X300 Pro model will flaunt a new 200MP HPB Samsung camera for the telephoto lens. It’ll be the company’s fourth-generation of the 200MP HPB telephoto shooter. The firm executive says that it has “deeply customized” this sensor in collaboration with ZEISS, offering four major “breakthroughs”.
As per the post, the Vivo X300 Pro is CIPA 5.5 anti-shake certified, which is the industry’s highest anti-shake certification. In comparison, the Vivo X200 series (review) devices have the CIPA 4.5 certification. The phone will feature ZEISS T* coating and an APO-certified lens, which will minimize chromatic aberration. Additionally, Vivo has made the lens from fluorite glass that minimizes light dispersion.
Furthermore, Vivo has collaborated with platform manufacturers to create a customized and exclusive focus tracking engine. It overcomes the challenges of capturing ultra-long-range motion capture. Apart from the 200MP HPB telephoto shooter, the Vivo X300 Pro will feature a 50MP Sony LYT-828 1/1.28-inch gimbal-grade main snapper and a large f/1.57 aperture. This one also has the industry-leading CIPA 5.5 rating and ZEISS T* coating.
A 200MP main lens and a 50MP telephoto shooter for the base model
As for the Vivo X300 base variant, the company will fit it with a main 200MP Samsung sensor. Boxiao’s post suggests that it will have the same blue glass filter as the X200 Ultra + ZEISS T* coating, apart from the CIPA 4.5 image stabilization certification. Additionally, the official announcement revealed that the base model will feature a 50MP ZEISS APO periscope telephoto lens, supported by the custom Sony LYT-602 sensor and ZEISS T* coating.

Vivo has also upgraded the front camera setup on the X300 series devices. All models will now flaunt a 50MP ZEISS wide-angle selfie camera with autofocus capabilities. The sensor will provide a wide 92-degree field-of-view and precise detail capture. Vivo will market the phones as a capable choice for taking selfies, vlogging, and making video calls.
Cameras aside, Vivo’s X300 series smartphones could utilize MediaTek’s upcoming Dimensity 9500 chip. The leaks suggest that the new MediaTek flagship will offer major improvements in the CPU and GPU departments. Furthermore, the new Vivo phones could also feature up to 1.5K displays and massive 7,000mAh batteries with new fast charging technologies.
