These days, smartphones with 7,000mAh, 7,300mAh, or even 8,000mAh batteries are quite common. However, many brands, such as HONOR and Realme, have already crossed this threshold by offering phones with much higher 10,000mAh batteries. HONOR was the first brand to launch a phone with such a battery withHONOR Win in December. In January, Realme introduced the P4 Power with a 10,001mAh battery. Now, Vivo could also introduce a smartphone with a 10000mAh battery.
Vivo is reportedly testing a phone with a 10,000mAh battery
Renowned gadget tipster Digital Chat Station claims Vivo is currently testing a phone with a 10000mAh battery. The device reportedly utilizes a large battery, which has a rated capacity of 10,000mAh. Furthermore, the phone has a typical battery capacity of 11,000-12,000mAh.
If the leak is correct, Vivo is experimenting with a smartphone battery that pushes well past what most people consider standard. Where a 5,000mAh battery once felt generous, phones with 7,000mAh or 8,000mAh batteries are no longer unusual in many markets like China and India.
The battery Vivo is testing uses silicon-based cells
The battery Vivo is testing the phone with utilizes a 4.53V single-cell silicon battery. For those unaware, batteries with silicon-based cells can store more energy than traditional graphite batteries. This technology helps increase battery capacity without making devices dramatically bigger. It’s worth mentioning that the trade-off with such batteries is heat management, charging behaviour, and durability. The phone brands struggle to balance all these things.
The tipster hasn’t revealed when exactly Vivo plans to launch a phone with such a battery. Since testing has just begun, it could be months before we see a commercial Vivo phone with such a large battery.
