Verizon has just revealed what’s new in the Pixel update for October 2025. Google did not reveal the information just yet, but Verizon did. There are several fixes included in it, it would seem. Let’s see what’s new.
Before we begin, do note that the update is not rolling out yet. It’s not rolling out by Google or Verizon, at least it was not at the time of writing this review. Verizon is only detailing the fixes that are coming.
Pixel’s October update will fix several bugs, Verizon claims
With that being said, an issue that causes a semi-transparent background to appear after the camera is launched will be addressed. On top of that, this update will also address an issue where the system crashes when starting or stopping casting with the Media Output Switcher. That goes for all phones from the Pixel 7 series to the Google Pixel 10 series.
The Pixel 9 and Pixel 10 series smartphones will also get a fix for how “flashlight status didn’t appear on the At a Glance widget.” One fix will also be exclusive to the Pixel 7 series. It’s related to Display & Graphics. The note says that this fix “addressed an issue that caused the screen to flicker and shut down under certain conditions.”
The update was already supposed to arrive, but it did not
What’s interesting is that these release notes say that the update was supposed to start rolling out yesterday. That did not happen, it would seem. We don’t know why, but it’s possible Google changed things up somewhere along the way. The update is expected any day now.
Don’t expect major changes in this update, but it does seem like some fixes will be included. We’ll probably get some security patches, too, though we cannot be sure at this point in time. We’ll have to wait and see what Google says.
