An agency that oversees The Battery Atlanta, is proposing to build 100,000 square feet of retail space at the Georgia International Plaza. The Atlanta Business Chronicle reports the plan is to transform a grassy area into an entertainment district that could include 12 restaurants, all in tiime for the 2028 Super Bowl. The town is also hosting the 2026 World Cup. The area is also just outside the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, home of the Atlanta Falcons.
No budget or funding source is established yet for the project construction. The Georgia World Congress Center Authority was able to attract the Signia by Hilton Atlanta, a hotel it mostly funded through revenue bonds.
The Battery Atlanta, which is adjacent to the home of the Atlanta Braves, Truist Park, contains a 264-room hotel, apartments, office buildings, shops, bars and restaurants.
