President Trump’s legal team reportedly rejected a $15 million offer from media conglomerate Paramount to settle a lawsuit he brought against CBS News last year.
Lawyers for Paramount in recent days made the offer, according to the Wall Street Journal, which was rejected by Trump’s team as they seek more than $25 million and a formal apology for an interview “60 Minutes” conducted with former Vice President Harris during the 2024 presidential race last fall.
The president’s lawyers also threatened further litigation against the media company, the Journal reported.
Trump contends the network intentionally edited answers Harris gave to questions from journalist Bill Whitaker to cast her in a more positive light.
The suit comes as Paramount is trying to secure a multi-billion dollar merger with fellow entertainment giant Skydance, a mega deal that will need approval from federal regulators to go through.
Rumors of a coming settlement have roiled staffers at CBS News and led to the resignation of two top executives at the network in recent weeks.
Trump has ridiculed the broadcaster, accusing it of bias against him and threatening to have his Federal Communications Commission scrutinize its broadcast license.
