- A new snapshot of the upcoming Gazoo Racing supercar has been shared by Toyota on social media.
- The new supercar will feature a twin-turbocharged V8, but a name has not yet been confirmed.
- Toyota is preparing to make several big announcements on October 13.
Over the last few weeks, there has been plenty of noise in the world of Toyota, some of which includes a rumor that the Century line of luxury vehicles will become a standalone brand. There is also news coming concerning Toyota’s Lexus, Daihatsu, and Gazoo Racing brands, and the latter has most of our interest following a new teaser shared on X. Therein, Toyota shared images of a billboard at the Fuju Speedway racetrack in Japan, showing a 1967 Toyota 2000GT, a 2010 Lexus LFA, and a new supercar with a GR emblem in the front grille. The caption accompanying this imagery reads as follows: “The sign at Fuji Speedway has changed. On the right is the 2000GT, next to it is the LFA, and next to that is…?” Whether this new supercar will carry the rumored LFR name remains to be seen, but we don’t have long to wait to find out, with all to be revealed on Monday, October 13.
Turbocharged V8 Hybrid Will Be Big On Power

At this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, Toyota turned up with two versions of this new supercar – one road-ready and another in racing form. Both cars, and the one depicted on this billboard, are heavily influenced by the Toyota GR GT3 concept revealed in early 2022, and numerous spy shots and insider reports of the cars have revealed that the long-hooded supercar will be powered by a twin-turbocharged V8 – not unlike the Mercedes-AMG GT. The combustion engine is expected to be supplemented by an electric motor, with combined output rumored to be as high as 900 horsepower.
Notably, the car in the teaser is unlike the similarly proportioned Lexus Sport Concept, which could indicate another variant with a Lexus badge is in the works. This would likely replace the Lexus LC. Perhaps Toyota will show us that version on Monday, too. Whatever the plans for next week, a full reveal of the GR GT3 roadcar is expected later this month at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show (October 30-November 9).
Another Sports Car (Or Two) May Be Announced
Toyota
With very little information being provided by Toyota, it’s tough to predict all that the automaker has planned for Monday’s live reveal, but it’s worth remembering that the company has also been developing a mid-engine prototype that could form the basis of a new MR2. Toyota also filed a trademark for the GR Celica name not too long ago, and the company has also confirmed that work has begun on a new Supra. Could these cars make a surprise debut next week? We doubt it, but Toyota didn’t foreshadow its Goodwood showcase, and it’s entirely possible that plans for these new sports cars will be unpacked on Monday. Stay tuned.
