
Though they’ve never taken off in the US (see Smart ForTwo and Toyota iQ), tiny city cars do have their markets. Smarts have been far more popular in Europe than elsewhere, and parts of Europe are welcoming short, low-speed city cars with open arms, such as the Citroen Ami and Microlino. Japan has its own kei vehicles to fill its low-cost, city car needs. For the FT-Me, however, Toyota has taken the more European approach. It’s an interesting concept that aims to provide low-cost transportation for the young, the old, and even those without the use of their legs.
