Google is steadily reshaping its entire smart home ecosystem. The Google Home app, which manages devices like Nest cameras, might soon get a new feature called the “Home Brief.” This feature aims to simplify the usage by providing an AI-powered summary of all the household activities by the end of the day.
Managing notifications will become easier with the Google Home Brief feature
Modern households consist of several smart home gadgets and security cameras. While these gadgets are important for surveillance and for making our daily life easier, managing dozens of notifications from them can be overwhelming. To solve this problem, Google is reportedly working on the “Home Bried” feature.
An APK teardown by Android Authority confirms that Google is surely working on the feature. As per the report, the new Home Brief feature seems to be offering a way to condense all of the day’s noise into a clear and concise report. Instead of being notified for every single notification throughout the day, users may choose to receive a digest. It will summarize important events like who came to the door, a package delivery, or any suspicious activity.
Home Brief feature will rely largely on Artificial Intelligence
Hints found in the Google Home app suggest that AI will play a key role in making these alerts useful. However, one interesting thing that was discovered was the feature’s direct link with the subscription. The Home Brief feature might not be available for free users. Instead, it would require the Google Home premium plan. This plan might replace the current “Nest Aware.”
Users may be offered up to 30 days of a free trial period, as revealed in the string code. For reference, Nest Aware also has a 30-day free trial period. While the working model of the feature seems interesting, the idea of putting it behind a paywall means only paid subscribers will enjoy it.
