Last year, we had the opportunity to drive the thrilling Aston Martin Vanquish Volante, and hearing the V12’s beautiful roar with the roof down is an experience not easily forgotten. But this car is equally beautiful standing still, not making a sound. At the time, we said our test car’s black paint concealed too many of the exquisite styling details, and that we’d prefer a lighter shade. Perhaps Aston Martin was listening, as it has just unveiled the Vanquish Volante Wave Edition, a one-off creation to be auctioned at the 2026 Naples Winter Wine Festival Auction. The lustrous shade brings to life one of the most stunning convertibles in the world right now.

The name of the Wave Edition’s color is Q Iridescent Sapphire, a blue finish with a green shimmer. Created by Q by Aston Martin, the brand’s personalization division, the hue was inspired by the movement of water around the Everglades of Southern Florida. This is also where the Naples Winter Wine Festival Auction is being held, with the sale of this drop-top to benefit the Naples Children & Education Foundation.

Besides the beautiful paintwork, Aston Martin added Gloss Black tinted carbon fiber upper and lower packages. A Club Sport White livery complements the blue paint and dark carbon fiber, which the brand likens to “waves breaking against rocks along the coast.” It includes a wave-inspired lower pinstripe and pinstripes on the long hood. There are also red brake calipers and a white V12 logo on the gloss black carbon fiber sidestrakes.
The breezy vibe of the convertible continues inside, with Glacier White being the primary color. Pale Blue contrast stitching appears on the headrests and sill plaques. Like the brake calipers, the Red Anodized start/stop controller adds a pop of warmth to the light color scheme.

This 824-horsepower drop-top will debut on 31 January, 2026, before going up for auction.

Why It’s Special

Even ignoring the fact that this car has a bespoke specification, the Vanquish Volante is a truly special convertible. V12 engines are rarer than they’ve ever been, but the car’s ability to switch between docile cruiser and angry, snarling sports car is something to behold. It also has the exquisite finishes expected of an Aston Martin.
Our test car had a price tag of $604,400, though, so it’s one of the most expensive drop-tops in the world. We also know that rare, one-off, or special Astons sell for big bucks. The first DB12 sold for $1.6 million a few years ago, and while the Vanquish Volante Wave Edition isn’t the first Vanquish, its bespoke specification gives it every chance of getting close to or surpassing $1 million.
