Velocity Restorations wowed SEMA 2025 with what it calls the world’s first production restomod Fox Body Mustang. It’s a thoroughly modernized 1991 LX that’s heading into production as part of the company’s Signature Series lineup in 2026. The timing couldn’t be better. Fox Body Mustangs are experiencing a serious renaissance right now, with values climbing steadily as Generation X enthusiasts who grew up dreaming about these cars finally have the means to own them.
The Velocity Fox Body Mustang will be the company’s halo vehicle, the prototype that will lead to serial production of turnkey Fox Body restomods. Finding clean examples today has become increasingly difficult as enthusiasts either modify them heavily or they’re already too far gone to save. Velocity sees this as an opportunity to deliver what the market craves, without years of sourcing parts and building them yourself.

Re-engineering the Fox Body Mustang from the ground up
The highlight of this build is the Roadster Shop SPEC chassis, a full bolt-in frame system that fixes the factory unibody’s weaknesses and sets it up for big power. It features an independent SLA style front suspension, parallel four-link rear, and a modern anti-roll bar design with equally modern steering geometry. Big brakes round off the essentials.
Under the hood sits a supercharged Ford Performance Gen 4X Coyote V8, the latest evolution of the 5.0-liter small block fitted with a Whipple 3.0-liter inverted supercharger that pushes output beyond 800 horsepower at the rear wheels. That power routes through a 10-speed automatic transmission. It rides on 18-inch three-piece billet wheels, with Baer six-piston brakes providing serious stopping power. The rear section features mini tubs that accommodate wide tires while maintaining the car’s classic proportions, with no widebody flares to ruin the lines. The interiors blend the stock Fox Body design with upgraded materials and the refinement needed to call this a proper job.

A proper Mustang restomod isn’t going to be cheap
A build like this probably carries a six-figure price tag, though Velocity hasn’t announced official pricing yet. Based on the brand’s other offerings, it wouldn’t be out of the question to expect this restomod to be priced in the $250,000 plus realm. For context, clean, well-optioned examples of stock Fox Body Mustangs can command asking prices near six figures, while market average pricing sits around $30,000.

The restomod market has exploded in recent years as builders prove there’s massive demand for professionally executed classic cars with modern performance and reliability. Velocity CEO Stuart Wilson explained that the Fox Body holds a special place in automotive culture, and the company set out to reimagine it with the same spirit that made it iconic. Growing nostalgia explains why a company like Velocity can confidently invest in production tooling for turnkey builds. For enthusiasts who want a Fox Body without the years of restoration work, Velocity just made that dream considerably more attainable.
