The six-cylinder engine has long been the sweet spot of the automotive industry, as it can be engineered to offer a great blend of performance, refinement, and fuel economy. Two fewer cylinders also make it cheaper to produce, and thanks to forced induction, the power of many six-cylinder engines can equal or exceed that of V8, V10, and even V12 engines. Does it sound as good as those engines? Usually not, but there has to be a tradeoff somewhere.
