Cheap gas is something almost every driver seeks out weekly, if not daily. Those with longer commutes are even more sensitive to gas pricing and are often willing to go slightly out of their way to save on gas. The same can be said for those with large, gas-guzzling trucks and SUVs – price matters.
But where can you go for the cheapest gas? We dug through publicly available sources and user-generated reports on where the cheapest gas is in the United States. You might even be surprised by which stations and areas you find on our list.

Midwest City, Oklahoma
Head over to Murphy Express (5655 Southeast 15th Street, Midwest City, Oklahoma) for gas that’s $1.96 per gallon. Best of all, gas prices this low aren’t unique to one station. We found several gas stations in and around Midwest City that are sub-$2.00 per gallon!
Be advised, though: As with all the cities and towns on our list, some pricing may require cash. Stations often charge a fee for credit card payments to cover transaction fees. Drop by an ATM first and pull some cash out for the lowest per-gallon price.

West Wendover, Nevada
The Maverick at 1020 North Florence Way, West Wendover, Nevada, has gas for $2.13 per gallon. Be advised that a few entries we found cited cash as the payment method, but it’s unclear whether cash is required to obtain the quoted pricing. Again, if gas pricing is a big concern for you, cash is king. The next best gas price in West Wendover is Pilot for $2.19 per gallon, and no other station even comes close.
Katy, Texas
Everybody loves a Quick Trip, and the QT at 23169 Morton Ranch Road in Katy, Texas, has both an incredible market and low gas prices. Here, you’ll find gas for $1.97 per gallon, which is the best in town – but not by much. The Walmart gas station is only a penny higher, and Chevron is, surprisingly, only two cents more per gallon. We sure didn’t see that coming!

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
The Walmart Neighborhood Market at 4900 South Sooner Road in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, also has gas priced at $1.96 per gallon. We’ve not known Walmart gas stations to require cash over credit, though, so this is likely the price you’ll pay regardless of the payment method you choose. Murphy’s Express, Casey’s, and VP Racing Fuels also have gas for $1.96 today.
Longview, Texas
The Midwest and southern states sure do love their massive shopping center gas stations, and the Sam’s Club at 3310 North 4th Street in Longview, Texas, might be why. Users report you can fill up for $1.89 per gallon, which is among the best gas prices we’ve seen today. It’s two cents cheaper than nearby Fresh by Brookshires, and a nickel better than Murphy’s USA gas station.
