According to the rumors, it is believed that Apple will launch a true bezel-less iPhone in 2027, but now, according to analyst Ross Young, those plans might have been delayed to 2030.
The bezel-less iPhone has been delayed
Young posted what he believes is a more accurate timeline of Apple’s plans in a post on X. According to Young, Apple will approach the design of its bezel-less iPhone in three stages. The first stage will occur in 2026, when Apple will launch an iPhone with a smaller notch. He also suggests that some Face ID elements will continue to remain in the notch rather than under the display.
The next stage is in 2028, two years later, when Apple will go with an all-under-display Face ID setup. However, the front-facing camera will exist separately from Face ID, suggesting that a small notch could still exist. The final stage is in 2030, another two years later.
This is when Apple will go all-in with an under-display design to house Face ID and the front-facing camera, completely without a hole-punch cutout or notch. This means that we have to wait five more years before we see an iPhone with a completely bezel-less design. Young also responded to a comment about his claims, saying he is “pretty confident” about it.
Contradicting rumors
That being said, we should point out that Young’s claims contradict some of the previous claims we’ve heard so far. For starters, the part about Face ID going under the display of the iPhone is in line, but then again, that was a claim that Young made back in May. However, his timeline contradicts another report, which says that Apple will move the front-facing camera under the display in 2027 as part of the iPhone’s 20th anniversary.
This is also where Apple will introduce a dramatic redesign of the iPhone, going with a mostly-glass design that could create a full-screen phone with a bezel-less look.
Of course, given that all of this are just rumors, it’s hard to say who is right. We’re still a few years away from the 2027 iPhone launch, so take it with a grain of salt. Hopefully, we won’t have to wait until 2030 to see a bezel-less iPhone.
