Which BMW M3 generation would you say is best? The consensus typically locks in on one of two answers: the race-derived E30 M3, and the well-balanced E46 M3. Both are great cars, but I don’t believe that either is the best. That honor goes to the E9X generation, built from 2007 to 2013, the only mass-production M3 to use a V8 engine (the E46 M3 GTR Strassenversion had a V8, but only three were built, and all are owned by BMW).
