Now that ASUS has backed out of making gaming phones for the foreseeable future (perhaps forever), REDMAGIC is the only remaining brand of ultra-high-end mobile gaming phones available globally, and that couldn’t be more evident with the global launch of the REDMAGIC 11 Air. This is the latest device from REDMAGIC, following the launch of the REDMAGIC 11 Pro. The main difference is that this is intended for those who want a peak mobile gaming experience, but are willing to sacrifice a few things to get that peak experience at a lower price.
That being said, don’t be fooled into thinking that giving up a few things means you’re getting something that’s “less than.” The REDMAGIC 11 Air has very powerful specs, and it will definitely show. The good news is that the phone starts at $529 as opposed to $749 for the REDMAGIC 11 Pro. It doesn’t have the liquid cooling technology or the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, but it does have the Snapdragon 8 Elite, and that’s still a really, really powerful mobile chipset. Of course, there’s more to this phone than the chipset.
The REDMAGIC 11 Air global launch begins today, but sales start in February
While today is the official global launch of this phone, you won’t actually be able to buy it until February. If you’re eager to get your hands on one, however, you won’t have to wait too long. The REDMAGIC 11 Air will go up for sale on February 11. You can even get early bird access on February 10 if you’re worried it might sell out. To get early bird access, you’ll need to register with the early bird voucher, which you can do between February 5 and February 10.
REDMAGIC will sell two models of the phone. One that comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, and one with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Each model will also come in two different colors: Transparent Black and Transparent White.
As for pricing, the 12GB + 256GB model is $529, while the 16GB + 512GB model is $649. It might not have the cool-looking liquid cooling ring on the back like the Pro, but it does cost $100 less than that phone’s base model. As for the rest of the specs, it has a 144Hz refresh rate display, which has a resolution of 2688 x 1216, as well as a 7,000mAh battery that supports 80W charging. That’s 1,000mAh more than last year’s REDMAGIC 10 Air. It’s also thinner than any other REDMAGIC phone. The company says it’s 12% thinner and 10% lighter than the REDMAGIC 11 Pro. Overall, REDMAGIC seems to be offering a powerhouse of a gaming phone for a very reasonable price.
