
In the early 1960s, the American automotive market was beginning to exhibit a major change. With the close of the 1950s, US-based car buyers were starting to show interest in vehicles that were a bit smaller. After all, models like the 1959 Oldsmobile 98 and the Buick Electra were exceedingly long, and some folks figured they didn’t need such a massive footprint to enjoy their vehicles. So, bearing that market shift in mind, Chevrolet made a move.
