The Pixel Watch is getting a new weather app sometime in the near future, and for those who love the Pixel Weather app on Google’s phones, this is good news. A new report states that the official Pixel Weather app is coming to Pixel Watch devices, providing all the things you love about the app on Pixel phones.
The Pixel Watch already has a weather app, of course, and the Pixel Weather app won’t be replacing that necessarily. But it should give users another option if they prefer to try something different. The new Pixel Weather app on watches will have Material 3 Expressive design styling for the UI. Just like the phone version of the app. It will also look similar to the current weather app on watches.
The Pixel Weather app will probably launch on the Pixel Watch 4 first
While it hasn’t been confirmed yet, the report from 9To5Google notes that it’s likely the Pixel Watch 4 will be the first to get the new Pixel Weather app for Wear OS. It could and should come to other Pixel Watch models at some point. For now, though, the Pixel Watch 4 seems to be the initial test device.
It’s also unclear if the app will be available right when the Pixel Watch 4 comes out. Google announced the Pixel Watch 4 last month, but it didn’t launch alongside Google’s new phones. While three of the four Pixel 10 phones are already available, the Pixel Watch 4 isn’t launching until October 9 with the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. So, there’s still a month to go before we know for certain if the new weather app will be available.
When the app does launch, it’ll bring with it a familiar design and Material 3 Expressive tiles. For example, one such tile will display common details like the current temperature alongside the high and low temperatures. Another tile will display the UV index, while yet another shows how many hours it’ll be before sunrise.
