One could argue that Porsche builds the best all-around sports cars on the road. The trouble, if you don’t count yourself among the world’s super-rich, is that those Porsche sports cars seldom if ever become affordable. New Porsche 911s can be breathtakingly expensive. The current 911 now starts at $127,700 for the base Carrera model. There’s not much point waiting around for a used one because the 911 suffers the lowest depreciation of any vehicle. Vintage 911s, powered by air-cooled engines, are sought after by enthusiasts. The only 911 that gets even semi-affordable is the not-so-beloved 996 generation, and even the values for them have been climbing.
