
Bring up the first-generation Lexus LS and someone is bound to call it the greatest production car ever made, and they’ll have a point. The fact that you can buy a used model right now and easily keep it going for another hundred thousand miles with mostly routine maintenance is a testament to the car’s durability. The development process took five years and cost Toyota more than a billion dollars; that investment in the product is evident. But the LS wasn’t the only part of the Lexus brand’s early rollout.
