After a long development time and a few different play tests, Tom Clancy’s The Division Resurgence is finally available to play on mobile devices, with the launch of the game on Android and iOS now live on March 31, just a short while after Ubisoft’s other big mobile launch, Rainbow Six Mobile. The Division Resurgence is very much like its PC and console counterparts, The Division and The Division 2, featuring the same looter shooter-style gameplay.
That means players can dive into a wide-open New York City map full of content, enemies to defeat, loot to grab, and much more. As a looter shooter, players will be encouraged to engage with repeat content to find the best gear for their builds, and this replayability should help give the game a longer lifespan. The game also has controller support at launch, which is a huge bonus.
If you aren’t fond of touchscreen controls, you can connect a controller and play with a little more familiarity. Though I’d personally recommend something like the Razer Kishi V3 or the Backbone One, other Bluetooth controllers, such as the DualSense or Xbox Wireless Controller, should work as well.
The Division Resurgence launch includes a new story campaign, solo and co-op play, and a healthy mix of end-game content
The Division Resurgence has a lot to offer right out of the gate. That’s good news for anyone that plans to dive in right away. Ubisoft has also done a pretty good job at setting the game up for longtime Division fans and newcomers to the series. As soon as you load up Resurgence for the first time, you’ll end up being dropped into a ‘Boot Camp’ tutorial. This will walk you through the main game mechanics and controls. After this, the game has a whole new story campaign to complete, but content goes much further.
Head into the Dark Zone for some PvP combat
Players can expect both solo and co-op activities to play through, including the fan-favorite Dark Zone area of the map. The Dark Zone is mostly designed as an end-game activity, or at least something to do in the later stages of the game once you’ve leveled up a bit. It’s also PvPvE, which means you’ll be facing off against real players in addition to regular enemies. This is also an extraction-style mode. The main goal is to get in, find some good loot, and extract out of the Dark Zone to safety. If you die in the Dark Zone, it’s possible to lose any loot you pick up. So you want to proceed with caution.
Players can choose from five different specializations
In The Division Resurgence, players will have five different specializations to choose from. This includes Demolitionist, Bulwark, Field Medic, Tech Operator, and Vanguard. Each of these has their own unique set of abilities that can bring something to the fight. For instance, the Field Medic can toss out healing equipment. Meanwhile, the Bulwark is your go-to if you want better defense. As it can pull out two different types of shields.
Players can also swap to different specializations once they unlock them. So, the choice isn’t set in stone. The game is free-to-play, and can be downloaded from the Play Store.
