The 1950s were a revolutionary time for the American automotive industry. Immediately after the close of World War II, several brands resumed production of pre-war models as a stopgap until they could introduce truly new automobiles. As the 1940s came to a close and a new decade dawned, most carmakers were moving towards longer, lower car designs. Not to mention, more and more chrome was packed on throughout the decade, along with increasingly taller tail fins.
