The best true wireless earbuds for gaming might just be the new Razer Hammerhead V3 HyperSpeed, though that will depend on what it is you want out of a pair of gaming earbuds. If you ask yourself that question and the answer involves having a charging case that can double as a wireless receiver, then these earbuds definitely have what you want.
Razer’s newly announced Hammerhead V3 HyperSpeed earbuds are hitting the market on April 9, and they come with some nifty little upgrades that position them as an interesting piece of hardware in the gaming audio space. Though earbuds for gaming might primarily be thought of as an accessory for mobile devices, and potentially handhelds, they’re actually a great option for console gaming and PC gaming too. And these just made it even easier to have earbuds as a viable option.
There are a lot of great features included here. However, one that really kind of sets them apart is the charging case’s capability to act as the receiver for wireless audio.
The Razer Hammerhead V3 HyperSpeed earbuds case is a low-latency receiver and a battery pack
True wireless earbuds have always had the capability to charge your earbuds back up. While not all cases for true wireless earbuds offer this, most of them do. What makes the HyperSpeed case unique is that it can also be the receiver for the earbuds. Here’s how it works. You can leave the 2.4GHz ultra low-latency dongle seated in the case, and then plug the case into whatever device you want to use the earbuds with. This will allow the dongle to basically pass its receiver capabilities to the case. The earbuds can still connect, and you can enjoy your game audio with the earbuds.
The whole point of adding this is so that you can use the earbuds while the case is charging. Of course, you should also be able to pull the dongle out, plug it into something, and charge the case anyway. But adding this function serves as a way to keep the dongle safely stored.
In addition to this the case also comes with a small Chroma RGB light bar on the front. Though, unless you really love Chroma, you’re probably better off leaving this disabled if possible. As it will no doubt drain your battery life more.
Speaking of battery life, the earbuds will last up to 10 hours on a single charge, and the case brings that up to 40 hours. The earbuds also feature Razer’s most advanced hybrid active noise cancellation which Razer says reduces noise by up to 50% compared to the previous model, and an IPX4 rating for some light water protection. The Razer Hammerhead V3 HyperSpeed are available starting April 9 for $129.99, and you can get them via Amazon or you can get them through Razer directly. Razer also sells the Hammerhead V3 X HyperSpeed for $99.99.
