Sony’s PlayStation State of Play events are always a treat for fans of the PlayStation franchise (some more than others), and a treat is exactly what fans got with the State of Play that took place on February 12, which was also Sony’s first State of Play of 2026. What’s most intriguing about the latest State of Play is that it was quite long. These normally last for around 30-40 minutes, and then the show’s over. The State of Play from February 12 was over an hour long.
This left the door open for many, many reveals that included both new games and new footage of previously announced games.
PlayStation State of Play February 2026: All the biggest reveals
During the nearly one hour and thirteen minutes of the event, Sony announced some pretty big stuff. With that in mind, here are the biggest reveals from the event.
Ghost of Yotei’s ‘Legends’ mode gets a launch date
Anyone who played Ghost of Tsushima is likely to have tried the game’s Legends mode, the co-op mode that allowed you to team up with three other players to take on challenges in a series of wave-based missions that ended with tough battles. It was quite popular, so fans were eager to learn of the Legends mode for Ghost of Yotei. When Sucker Punch Productions announced it, the studio did so without mentioning a release date. Just that it would be coming in early 2026.
It’s now confirmed that the launch date will be March 10 for PS5. Unfortunately, Legends is not launching alongside a PC version of the game.
Castlevania is back
It’s been a while since there has been a brand-new Castlevania game, so it was naturally one of the biggest reveals of the PlayStation State of Play when Konami announced Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse to celebrate Castlevania’s 40th Anniversary. This is a new entry in the series, and it’ll be launching in 2026. Konami doesn’t give out a specific date, but it is coming this year at some point. Plus, there’s a trailer!
Metal Gear Solid 4 is finally being released for newer consoles
The Metal Gear Solid series is one of the most iconic franchises in gaming, and one of the best entries, Metal Gear Solid 4, has been stuck on the PS3 since it was released. Fans have been urging Konami to bring the game forward and make it available to play on newer consoles. On February 12, 2026, MGS fans got their wish.
As part of the newly announced Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots will be available to play on something other than a PS3. The collection also includes Metal Gear Solid Peacewalker and will be released for PS5 on August 27, 2026.
Players will return to Silent Hill
At least, they’ll return to the Silent Hill franchise. One of Konami’s several announcements included an official announcement trailer for Silent Hill: Townfall, a new entry in the franchise that takes place in the fictional town of St. Amelia. Silent Hill seems to be having a bit of a resurgence, with the Silent Hill 2 Remake and Silent Hill F having both released in 2025.
Marathon launch gameplay trailer revealed alongside the upcoming server slam
Bungie might be most well-known for the Halo and Destiny franchises, but once upon a time, many, many years ago, it also had a franchise called Marathon. After a few delays, some community backlash, and much refinement (so it would seem), Marathon is about to launch on PC and consoles in early March. Leading up to the launch, Sony’s State of Play ended with a launch gameplay trailer of Marathon, along with the reveal that the server slam weekend is happening from February 26 to March 2, with the game officially launching on March 5.
The original God of War Trilogy is getting a remake, plus the series gets a shadow drop
God of War got its fourth and fifth official mainline titles in 2018 and 2022. Both were excellent games that took the story of Kratos in new directions and introduced a whole lot of fun new gameplay. Santa Monica Studios is now revisiting what made the series popular with a remake of the original God of War Trilogy. In addition to the announcement about the trilogy’s remake, Santa Monica revealed a new game in the franchise called God of War: Sons of Sparta, which tells the story of Kratos as a Spartan, years before he became a god and before the player was introduced to him as they know him now. To top things off, the game was shadow-dropped with a launch that followed the State of Play.
Players get a first look trailer for an untitled John Wick game
John Wick is a hugely popular franchise and a hugely popular character, so it was probably only a matter of time before the franchise was brought to gaming. While the game is untitled and likely not that close to a launch, Sony announced that the game was in active development for PS5 and gave players a first look at the game through this announcement trailer. John Wick is being developed by Saber Interactive, the same studio behind the incredibly fun Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2.
There are many more games to come
While these were some of the biggest reveals of the show, Sony showed off a whole lot more that’s worth taking a peek at. If you didn’t watch the State of Play live, you can check out the entire thing in the video below.
