- This 1995 BMW M3 shows just 3,600 miles and remains largely original.
- The car’s immaculate Alpine White exterior hides a Light Gray interior.
- It remained with its original owner until the seller picked it up this year.
If you’ve got a BMW dealership nearby, you’ll notice it’s still possible to drive away in a brand-new M3 for just under $80,000. That’s not pocket change, but given the performance on offer, it’s a fair deal in today’s market.

So why, then, would someone spend even more on one that’s been sitting around for three decades? There has to be a reason, and no, it’s not because this car is some ultra-rare E36 M3 Lightweight – those aftermarket decals might fool you at first glance, but this isn’t one of those.
What it is, though, is a remarkably well-preserved, low-mileage time capsule that happens to wear the M badge.

The original E30 M3 has soared in value over the years, but prices of low-mileage E36s are also on the rise. This particular 1995 example, listed for auction through Bring a Trailer, shows just 3,600 miles (5,793 km) on the clock, and at the time of writing, bidding already hit $85,000.
The original E30 M3 has become a bona fide collector’s darling, but clean E36 examples are starting to catch the same wave. This particular 1995 M3, currently listed on Bring a Trailer, shows just 3,600 miles (5,793 km).

At the time of writing, bidding had already climbed to $85,000, proof that nostalgia and originality can sometimes outmuscle modern horsepower, and occasionally, common sense too.
The originality of this E36 M3 is the main reason why it’s set to sell for such a hefty sum. Prior to the selling dealer picking up the keys earlier this year, it had remained with the original owner since new. And the condition appears to be just immaculate.
Except for the E36 M3 Lightweight-inspired decals, this car is entirely original. It’s finished in Alpine White with 17-inch staggered-width wheels, while the interior is trimmed in Light Gray Nappa leather upholstery. Factory equipment includes an AM/FM radio, cruise control, and most importantly, a five-speed manual transmission.

Power comes courtesy of a 3.0-liter naturally-aspirated six-cylinder with 240 hp and 225 lb-ft (305 Nm) of torque. The listing doesn’t go into detail about the car’s service history, but it’s clearly been well cared for, and could prove to be the perfect canyon carver for the next owner, or kept as is and used as a garage queen.
According to its original window sticker, the first owner paid $42,545 in August 1995. Adjusted for inflation, that’s about $90,377 today, more than the current base M4, which starts at $81,300 before options.
If this pristine M3 has your name on it, and you don’t mind paying new-car money for old-school charm, you can still place a bid on Bring a Trailer over here. Just be quick about it, because there’s only one day left before the hammer drops.
