T-Mobile has quietly launched two new loyalty plans aimed at retaining its existing customers. The carrier has not officially advertised or announced the new plans yet. This suggests that the plans may only be available to select accounts. They come with lower pricing, which might look appealing at first. However, the new plans have some notable compromises.
T-Mobile quietly launches two new loyalty plans
The launch of the new loyalty plans is carefully controlled. As said earlier, the firm has not made any official announcement regarding the plans. They do not appear in the standard plan listings. Instead, the plan is being made available to accounts flagged internally. The exact criteria to mark the account eligible for the plans remain unknown. However, the eligibility is likely based on factors such as account age, number of lines, or prior retention activity.
One plan is called Experience More with Appreciation Savings. It closely resembles an existing premium plan, but with reduced monthly costs on the first two lines. Both the single-line and two-line household users will be able to save a decent chunk of money by switching. However, the reduced price is offset by smaller device trade-in credits. Customers who upgrade phones regularly could lose more in promotional value than they save each month. This downside makes the plan less appealing over time.
The plans are priced lower, but have sharper trade-offs
The second plan has a simple name, “Loyalty Plan.” This one is more aggressive in terms of pricing and trade-offs. Unlike the first plan, this one is designed specifically for larger family or group accounts, with highly discounted pricing for extra lines. On paper, the plan is one of the cheapest options for multi-connection customers.
However, the savings come at a clear cost. T-Mobile has capped the high-speed data. The hotspot performance is also limited, and international data benefits are removed. Popular bundled perks, including streaming subscriptions, are not included as well. The plan also drops long-term price guarantees, which have been a key selling point in recent years. The compromises make it clear why the carrier has decided not to streamline the plans.
