Shots were fired on Monday evening near a building in New York that houses several major businesses, including Blackstone and KPMG, the New York Police Department confirmed to Business Insider. The suspect is dead, the department posted on X.
The shooting incident occurred at 345 Park Avenue at around 6:30 p.m., a spokesperson for the NYPD said.
A law enforcement source told BI that multiple people were shot, including a police officer.
NYPD Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said on X at 7:52 pm that the scene was contained and “the lone shooter has been neutralized.”
Additional details were not immediately available, and the NYPD was still investigating.

Photos and videos posted on social media showed a large police presence at the scene, with officers appearing to enter the building.
In a post on X, the NYPD asked the public to avoid the area of East 52nd Street between Park Avenue and Lexington Avenue due to police activity and emergency vehicles in the area.
