The current Mercedes-AMG C 63 is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder hybrid. There are several terms in that powertrain description that have rubbed buyers the wrong way, so much so that Mercedes is reportedly considering backtracking on the decision with either a straight-six engine or a V8, but Affalterbach still has carbon emissions reduction targets to meet, and therefore, an all-electric C-Class AMG is also in the works, which spy photographers have recently caught at the Nürburgring with less camouflage than ever before. While the underpinnings may be non-traditional, the looks are certainly sticking to the elegant recipe that has served Mercedes so well.
The First Electric C-Class From AMG Will Blend In

Despite still wearing a considerable amount of concealing vinyl all over the body, this prototype still bears a resemblance to the current C-Class, particularly in the headlights. Despite this, there is still some evidence of evolution, with a triangular motif appearing in the turn signal indicators, much like the new CLA and GLC EQ. Similarly, the rear end borrows from the latest CLA with more Three-pointed Stars in the taillight DRLs, and the flush-fitting door handles help make the side profile sleeker. Shutlines for the hood indicate a large opening for the frunk, while a blanked-off front grille will house a large Mercedes logo. Lower down, slight protrusions in the bumper hint at an aggressive fascia, but we’ll have to wait for the electric AMG to strip down further to see where this design takes influence from.

Chrome window surrounds are traditional, as are slightly swollen front wheel arches and side skirts, while at the rear, the C-Class appears to tread the line between fastback and sedan with a sloping trunk, though the shutlines indicate that there won’t be a liftgate. What will be there is a small lip spoiler, potentially atop a retractable element like the CLA, and thanks to some of the bodywork being exposed, we can see that a prominent gloss black diffuser panel will feature to help the high-performance EV stand apart from the regular C-Class. Also evident is a panoramic glass roof and outdated AMG wheels that will certainly be replaced with a newer design for production.
Loads Of Power And A Long Wait For AMG’s C-Class EV

The electric C-Class from AMG will arrive atop the MB.EA-M (Mercedes-Benz Electric Architecture Mid-Size) platform that also underpins the aforementioned GLC EQ, and according to our spies, it will develop in excess of 600 hp, though that should be a given considering that the current hybrid model makes a whopping 671 hp. This output will come from two YASA-developed axial-flux motors at the rear and another at the front, with the battery featuring liquid-cooled round cells and pouch cells, which are widely considered a stepping stone to solid-state battery technology. Unfortunately, as close to production as this development prototype looks, we have a long wait before we get the exact details on this new EV, as a reveal is only expected at the end of 2026.
