Sony introduced the highly anticipated Xperia 1 VII model in May. The smartphone stands out as a flagship with its processor, display, and other features. It also boasts a stylish design. While everything seems fine so far, it appears that some users are experiencing an annoying problem with pre-orders.
Sony Xperia 1 VII pre-orders reportedly cancelled without notification
After introducing the Xperia 1 VII, Sony launched a pre-order campaign in several European countries, offering free WH-1000XM5 headphones. This meant that customers who pre-ordered the device would receive a gift at no extra cost. In short, it was a great deal.
However, it appears that some users are facing a serious issue with their pre-orders. According to posts shared on social media platforms like Reddit, Sony has cancelled some customers’ Xperia 1 VII pre-orders without providing any prior notice.
Some customers, on the other hand, claimed that the company told them they needed to place a new order. However, in this case, users say that they will no longer be able to receive the headphones that were supposed to come with the phone as a gift, since the promotional period has ended.
Pre-order cancellations are currently reported in European countries such as the Netherlands, Germany, the UK, and France. So far, Sony has not made any official statement regarding the issue, making it difficult to understand why this is happening.
Of course, this only applies to some users. Most say that they received their Xperia 1 VII phones and free Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones without any issues.
A look back at what the smartphone offered
Sony powers the Xperia 1 VII with one of the most powerful processors on the mobile market: the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite. The smartphone also offers 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB or 512 GB internal storage options.
The device has a 6.5-inch LTPO OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1080 x 2340 pixel resolution. It sports a 12MP selfie camera on the front. On the back, it includes a vertical triple camera setup with 48MP, 12MP, and 48MP sensors. A 5,000mAh battery powers the device and supports 30W wired and 15W wireless charging.
Finally, Sony ends an era with the Xperia 1 VII by shifting production of its top-tier phones to third-party manufacturers, starting with this model.
