- A new chassis from Roadster Shop underpins the car and supports an LS7 V8.
- The shop behind the car created custom matte red valve covers for the engine.
- They also upholstered the cabin in red leather and added bespoke switchgear.
This may look like a 1967 Pontiac GTO, but don’t be fooled. After a meticulous overhaul, it shares almost nothing with its original self. In the world of restomods, this one stands out as a top-tier example. And it should, given that over $1.2 million was poured into the project over a span of two years.
Come August, at Monterey Car Week,it’ll hit the auction block, hoping to land in a new garage, preferably one with a credit line as deep as the ocean.

Nicknamed the “Twisted 67 GTO,” this project started with a straightforward goal: make the car a better version of the original, no expense spared. Looking at the spec sheet, the builders clearly succeeded. The bodywork didn’t undergo a full-on redesign or get wrapped in carbon fiber like so many modern builds; instead, it stays faithful to the classic look, though it does sport a fresh, bold aqua color.
Underpinning the car is a C6-based chassis from Roadster Shop, and a 427 cubic-inch LS7 V8 fitted with a 2.9-liter Whipple supercharger provides power. It has a matte red finish and serves as the centerpiece of the car thanks in large part to the custom-made valve covers with Pontiac branding. Needless to say, the engine bay is a true work of art.
Luxury Meets Function Inside

It’s the same story with the cabin. The designers have modernized the interior and wrapped it in red leather that matches the color of the engine. There are new machined components, bespoke aluminum throttle and brake pedals, and custom gauges from Dakota Digital. There are also billet aluminum parts found within, as well as handmade stainless steel trimmings plated in nickel.
This may very well be one of the finest restomod interiors around. Even the trunk gets plenty of attention, now lined with red leather and recarpeted for good measure. Of course, it wouldn’t be complete without a killer sound system, so it comes equipped with a 12-speaker setup and a 12-inch subwoofer.
Other key upgrades made include a stainless steel exhaust, carbon fiber driveshaft, Baer big brake kit, custom 19- and 20-inch wheels, and a modern 4L80E automatic transmission. Mecum Auctions is handling the sale, so if you want to place a bid, head on over to their site for further details.
