- 2000 Toyota RAV4 J has covered only 3,646 miles since it left Japan.
- It features a 2.0L four-cylinder engine paired to a five-speed manual.
- Retains original JDM aero kit with unique bumpers, spoiler, and mirrors.
The Toyota RAV4 is one of the most popular and reliable compact SUVs in the market, so one might assume that most are driven frequently and quickly rack up the miles. However, an incredibly low-mileage example from 2000 has just appeared for sale, and if you’re feeling a little nostalgic for simpler times, it might be just about perfect. It’s certainly not as fancy as a new one, but it does have a unique appeal.
This particular model is known as the RAV4 J, with the J standing for ‘joyful.’ It is a JDM-spec version but has since been imported into the United States. Remarkably, and despite it leaving the Toyota factory a quarter of a century ago, it has been driven just 5,869 km, or 3,646 miles, since new. It could very well be the lowest-mileage RAV4 of this vintage in the United States, or anywhere in the world for that matter.

The RAV4 J boasts a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission and four-wheel drive. The engine may not be particularly powerful, only delivering 127 hp and 132 lb-ft (179 Nm) of torque, but we’re sure the combination of a stick shift and 4WD actually makes it pretty fun to drive.
It also looks pretty special, too. The SUV retains the original Japanese aero kit that includes a special front bumper, new side sills, and a beefed-up rear bumper. There’s also a large rear spoiler, an extra wing mirror on the front quarter panel, and an odd mirror hanging out over the rear window.
Both the exterior and interior of the car look to be in good condition. However, the Cars & Bids auction does say the car was involved in an accident while still residing in Japan, so the front fender had to be replaced and the hood needed some moderate repairs.
