Samsung is the company that has been pushing the success of foldable displays the most from the beginning. After all, they are also a supplier of these types of displays. However, before the launch of the new Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, the company had been resting on its laurels. Even Huawei got ahead of the company by launching a tri-fold handset first. That said, it seems that Samsung is all set to announce its own Galaxy Z tri-fold phone in the coming months, and a new leak has confirmed both its design and key features.
The latest leak comes from X/Twitter user TechHighest. The post includes three short videos that appear to be animations extracted from One UI 8. These animations are designed to describe features of Samsung’s first tri-fold mobile device. The leak also confirms the smartphone’s design format.
Design and features of Samsung’s tri-fold phone leaked
As expected, the animations show that the phone will fold not once, but twice. This “triple-panel” design is expected to give the tri-fold device a tablet-like screen when fully opened. This will offer an expansive canvas for multitasking, content creation, and entertainment. When folded, it becomes a more compact, pocketable device.

Beyond the design, the leak also confirms some key features. The animations show that the tri-fold device will support wireless charging, a feature we’ve come to expect on high-end phones. More importantly, it will also include reverse wireless charging for your accessories, like Galaxy Buds or Galaxy Watches.

Lastly, the leak also confirms that the tri-fold phone will support NFC payments. Of course, you can pay quickly without having to unfold the device.

There are still no official details about Samsung’s tri-fold phone’s arrival on the market. Perhaps we’ll see something about it at the Unpacked event on September 4th.
