Back in July, Samsung announced that some new features were coming to Bixby for its smart TVs, and all these new features are powered by generative AI. These new functions are designed to make interacting with Bixby on your smart TV more effortless and presumably more enjoyable. At the very least, it seems like Samsung wants to make things more convenient for the user and allow them to get more from their TVs.
With Bixby enhanced by generative AI, users can start a conversation with Bixby simply by using their voice or by pressing the mic button, Samsung says. The key point here is that Samsung says it’s no longer required to prompt commands, interact with menus, or type anything up. This should save users time in getting more information when they want it. For example, when there’s something on the screen that they want to know more about. Like an actor or a location that they’ve never been to. In fact, you can ask Bixby to “explore more about on-screen content,” and it’ll display all relevant information right on the screen for you.
Smarter Bixby, enhanced by generative AI, will start rolling out to South Korea
A smarter Bixby is likely something you want access to as soon as possible. That’s understandable, given that it genuinely seems more useful now. Having said that, you might have a little bit of a wait still. Samsung confirms that smarter Bixby, enhanced by generative AI, starts rolling out in South Korea.
It will extend to global regions in phases, according to Samsung’s Newsroom post. However, the company doesn’t say anything about exact dates or time frames. That means these features may not be available to US Samsung TV owners yet. This is the same rollout plan as when Samsung announced the update last month, which was adding Bixby to Click to Search.
This update will be available on 2025 Samsung TVs
Samsung doesn’t list every single model in its press release. However, it does state that this update is going to be available on 2025 Samsung TVs. This includes Neo QLED models, OLED models, those in The Frame series, and regular QLED models. If you have a TV in any of those categories from this year, then you should be good to go. At least when the update rolls out in your region.
