Samsung is rumored to be going with Micron for the RAM components inside its Galaxy S26 series smartphones. This suggests that Samsung will continue sourcing components from Micron, as it has already done so with the Galaxy S25 for a portion of the units manufactured. The Galaxy S26 may seem like a long way off, seeing as the Galaxy S25 series is still being produced.
It’s important to remember, however, that Samsung has typically been releasing its next phone in the first couple of months of the new year. That means it has to already be working on the new phone. With this in mind, it’s likely that Samsung has to be sourcing components at this stage. According to the report from Korean media DealSite, Samsung is already receiving samples of LPDDR5X memory from Micron to use in the Galaxy S26.
Galaxy S26 RAM could come from Micron due to Samsung’s low yields
Things could change by the time Samsung needs to start manufacturing its next Galaxy S series phone. As of now, it looks as if Samsung might have a problem with the yields of its own memory and storage products that it normally uses for its phones.
DealSite (via SamMobile) notes that the Galaxy S25 series will continue to use chips from Micron. It also states that this will amount to around 60% of the chips coming from Micron. Meanwhile, the other 40% will come from Samsung’s own division. This is apparently part of why Micron is already trying to shore up more business from Samsung for its next Galaxy S flagships.
The low yields Samsung has been producing are said to be causing the price of Samsung’s own memory and storage to come with a higher cost. This would most likely raise the price of the end product. So, Samsung has reportedly chosen to go with Micron because it has had higher yields. Helping to keep the price lower. In addition to the RAM coming from Micron, the Galaxy S26 may also come with up to 16GB of RAM in at least one variant.
